Thirty-six law enforcement officers were sworn in today by state Attorney General Beau Biden as part of the summer crackdown on drunken drivers in the state, which is now in its 11th year.

The officers included those from Wilmington, Newark, the University of Delaware, New Castle, Newport and Middletown police agencies who are participating in this year’s Checkpoint Strikeforce DUI campaign, which conducts weekly sobriety checkpoints around the state between the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve.
